Terms of use

The rules for using SmileIntro as a patient. Version 2026-09-12. Using the service means accepting them.

Who you are dealing with

SmileIntro is provided by the operator below. The dental practice whose link you followed is a separate organisation with its own terms, its own privacy notice and its own professional obligations. Nothing here creates a relationship between you and that practice; only the practice can do that.

Who may use it

• You must be eighteen or older.
• The photograph must be of you, taken by you or with your agreement, and uploaded by you.
• Do not upload a photograph of anybody else, and never one of a child.
• You must be able to understand this page in English. If you are not sure, ask the practice.

What you must not do with it

• Do not use it to identify anyone, or to work out who somebody is from a picture.
• Do not use it to make a clinical decision, for yourself or for anyone else.
• Do not use its output to train another model, or collect it in bulk.
• Do not present anything it produces as evidence of what treatment will achieve.
• Do not try to break, overload or work around the limits of the service.

The output is automated, and it can be wrong

Tooth regions, reference labels, colour descriptions and proportions are produced by software reading one photograph. They can be incomplete, mistaken, or affected by lighting, camera angle, lip position and image quality. Reference labels indicate approximate positions, not confirmed identifications. None of the figures are validated clinical measurements.

A dentist who examines you in person may reach a different conclusion, and if they do, theirs is the one that counts.

Illustrations are illustrations

Where the service shows a generated or altered image, it is a cosmetic illustration made by software. It is not a simulation of a treatment, not a promise of a result, not a before-and-after, and not a substitute for a dentist explaining what is actually possible for you. Treatment results depend on your mouth and on clinical judgement, neither of which a photograph contains.

Availability

The service depends on third-party providers and may be slow, unavailable, or return incomplete output at any time, without notice. It is offered as it is. Do not rely on it where a delay or an error could cause you harm.

Your photograph and your guide

Your photograph is not stored and your guide is not saved. When you close the tab, neither the operator nor the practice can retrieve either. If you choose to send your guide to the practice, the practice then holds a copy under its own terms. How all of this is handled is set out in the privacy information.

If something goes wrong

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your rights under consumer law are unaffected by anything written here.

Beyond that, the service is provided without warranty, and the operator is not liable for decisions taken on the basis of its output. This is the point of the limits above: the service describes a photograph, and the judgement belongs to a dentist who has examined you.

Complaints about the service go to the operator. Complaints about the practice, the consultation or any treatment go to the practice, and then to the General Dental Council if they cannot be resolved.

Changes

These terms are versioned. The version in force when you used the service is the one that applies to that use; a later change does not reach back.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you keep the protection of your local consumer law and may bring proceedings there.
